Breast Cancer Screenings Planned for Area During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness month, UPMC Altoona will hold walk-in mammogram screening events at three locations this month.  The screenings do not require an appointment, and will take place every Tuesday at the Station Medical Center in Altoona,  from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.  There will also be a breast cancer screening at the UPMC Outpatient Center in Ebensburg on October 16^th from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.  Finally a screening is planned on Tuesday October 22^nd at UPMC in Bedford, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.  The American College of Radiology recommends that beginning at the age of 40, women with an average risk of breast cancer be screened yearly.
