Pennsylvania lawmakers have voted to approve a resolution calling for the PIAA to make changes to its current playoff system. House Resolution 443 is urging the PIAA to create separate playoffs and championship bracket, for public and private schools. Unlike public schools, which must recruit student athletes from within the district’s geographic boundaries, private and charter schools can hand-select the best athletes from anywhere. Yesterday, the Pennsylvania House Commerce Committee voted 24-1 in favor of advancing the resolution.
