A Bedford County woman is facing numerous cruelty to animal charges after a number of cats were found living in unsanitary conditions. In April, 19 cats were seized from the home of 72-year-old Jean Smith, located along Dogwood Road in Bedford Township. Reportedly, the cats were kept in a feces and urine covered shed and did not have access to food or water. Smith has been charged with more than 90 offenses, including numerous felonies for aggravated cruelty to animals. She was arraigned yesterday, and is free on unsecure bail.
