A former caseworker with the Clearfield County Children Youth and family Services, has been charged, following an investigation into allegations she extorted her clients. State police have identified her as 39-year-old Crystal Miller of DuBois. Reportedly, four clients claimed Miller would ask for monetary assistance, including some cases where she allegedly made comments about their individual cases in exchange for whatever she requested. Some of what she asked for included a free vacation, gas money and school supplies for her children. Authorities say she also attempted to have clients co-sign a loan for her. Miller is facing multiple misdemeanors for official oppression, theft by extortion and attempted extortion. In a statement, Clearfield County District Attorney Ryan Sayers said, “The duty and responsibility of a CYS caseworker is to ensure the safety of children in Clearfield County.” He added that Miller had “abused her position of power.”
