The Blair County budget for next year reportedly now includes an 8% increase in real estate taxes to cover salary increases for county employees. According to the Altoona Mirror, under this proposed real estate tax increase, mills for next year will go from 4.522 to 4.883. If the budget is adopted, the owner of a property assessed at $200,000 will pay $72.50 more next year, with the county property taxes increasing from $904.40 to $976.60.
