The weekend before – and the night before – the Thanksgiving holiday always provide a wide variety of Thanksgiving-themed live music parties and events to check out.
The weekend before Thanksgiving always signals that it’s time for the annual “Patched Together: A Day Of Music to Benefit the Healing Patch” event. Started in 2011, this year’s Patched Together again takes place Saturday at Altoona’s Bavarian Aid Society Hall, and features a slate of area bands and performers donating their talents to help raise funds and awareness for the Home Nursing Agency’s Healing Patch program, which provides support and services to young people who have lost family members and caregivers. Providing the music this year will be The Jaded Lips, The Kiara Smith Band, Half Tempted, Greg Burley and the Sun King Warriors, with a deejay spinning tunes to wrap up the evening. The family-oriented, kid-friendly event will also feature plenty of children’s activities, a basket raffle and other giveaways, food and refreshments and much more. Admission is $5 per person, or free if you purchase a Patched Together 2024 T-shirt.
The Wednesday night before Thanksgiving – Thanksgiving Eve – is considered one of the busiest nights of the year for people heading out to have fun before enjoying their holiday feast the next day with family and friends. Not surprisingly, there is a lengthy list of shows, dances and celebratory events happening on Thanksgiving Eve; browse the listing below for the details. If you plan to celebrate hard, make sure to call a taxi or an Uber or use a designated driver to get yourself home safely so you – and others – can enjoy a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
Due to the wintry weather that impacted the area on Friday, consider calling ahead if you are planning to attend a Friday live music event to make sure it is still happening; several shows in the Cambria and Somerset County areas have been cancelled due to road conditions.
