The Portage Ambulance Association announced yesterday that they are ceasing operations. In a post on their Facebook page a statement read that nearby ambulance services will now provide mutual aid in the area, and that the Cambria County 911 center has been notified. According to WJAC-TV, the president of the ambulance service said the closure was due to, “Economic times and low insurance reimbursements.” The Association said, “We apologize for any inconvenience or delay in coverage.”
