Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt has announced that the legally mandated recount in Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate race has been halted after Democratic incumbent Bob Casey conceded the race on Thursday. The recount occurred because the race between Casey and Republican Dave McCormick was within 0.5 percentage points. Casey, who was a three term senator, lost by about 16,000 votes.
