Here’s a listing of what will be happening on the “Homegrown Rocker” during December. Catch the program every Sunday night from 8 to 10 p.m. on Q94 Classic Rock (www.q94classicrock.com), from 10 p.m. to midnight on 107.1 and 101.3 Jack FM (www.1071jack.fm), and via podcast after the show airs on Q94’s website (in “The Professor’s Classroom”).
DECEMBER 1 – All-Request Night: As we have been advertising on the show, we are bringing back the “All-Request Night” to cap Thanksgiving weekend! To submit your local music requests for the special, email them to homegrownrocker@gmail.com – deadline for all request submissions is the end of Wednesday, November 27 (Thanksgiving Eve)! We’ll then play as many of your local music requests as we can fit in on the “All-Request Night” special!
DECEMBER 8 – Jack Frost and the Frostbites: We bring you a little bit of early Christmas season cheer as we welcome Altoona-based holiday season musical revelers Jack Frost and the Frostbites, who since 1981 have driven around Blair County in December to serenade neighborhoods and street corners by performing Christmas season music from the back of a truck. We’ll learn their story and hear songs from their first CD, “Songs From the Back of a Truck!”
DECEMBER 15 – The Collaborator (featuring Derek Woods): We’ll find out more about a new western PA-based musical collaboration as we speak via phone with The Collaborator and the musician he collaborates with, Derek Woods!
DECEMBER 22 – Christmas Special: Grab some eggnog and cookies and let the local and regional music scene get you into the Christmas spirit as we spotlight holiday music created by area bands and artists! We’ll hear original Christmas song creations as well as local performers’ renditions of time-tested holiday favorites!
DECEMBER 29 – End Of Year Special: We’ll close out 2024 with our annual end-of-year special, where we recap the area music happenings during the past year and hear music from the bands and artists who impacted the area music scene in 2024!
