The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection is working to stabilize the abandoned mine in Unity Township where a  Westmoreland County woman died last week.  DEP officials say they are drilling and pumping in a grout-like substance around the underground structure.  According to state police, a sinkhole opened up under Elizabeth Pollard on Monday evening of last week, causing her to fall about 30 feet into the cavity.  The Westmoreland County Coroner said she died from head and torso injuries.
