State Police in Hollidaysburg have identified the suspect accused of setting fire inside the Bellwood-Antis Middle School early this morning.  He has been identified as 19-year-old Elias Alley of Altoona, who reportedly admitted to lighting the fire inside the school’s wrestling room.  The call came in at 3:19 this morning and the Excelsior Fire Company in Bellwood had the fire quickly under control.  When state police arrived at the school they found blood leading away from the scene.  During the investigation law enforcement learned the suspect broke into a nearby classroom and surveillance cameras reportedly showed the suspect walking towards the gym.  Police say the suspect then started a fire inside a garbage can, located in the wrestling room.   State police later found Alley at his Altoona residence. When questioned he allegedly admitted to starting the fire.  Alley was arraigned this afternoon on felony arson, criminal trespass, burglary, and institutional vandalism.  His bail has been set at $1 million.  Court officials noted that Alley is also facing outstanding charges for simple assault and theft.  He is currently in the Blair County Prison.  His preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 31st.  Because of the fire, both the middle and high schools will operate remotely this week.
