This morning in the Blair County Courthouse in Hollidaysburg, Luigi Mangione, who is suspected in the killing of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thomas, agreed to be extradited to New York to face murder charges. He is now officially in the custody of New York City authorities. According to the New York Post, once he arrives in New York he is scheduled to appear before Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Gregory Carro, on an 11-count indictment. If convicted of murder as an act of terrorism, Mangione faces the possibility of serving a life sentence, without parole. Mangione was at the Blair County Courthouse this morning where he was facing a hearing on both his extradition and the charges filed against him when Altoona Police apprehended him last Monday at McDonald’s on Plank Road. There are reports Mangione plans to plead not guilty once he’s before a judge in New York.
