The Central Pa. Humane Society, here in Blair County, is warning residents of a recent scam involving missing pets. Reportedly, scammers will use flyers or social media posts regarding a missing pet, they will call the pet owner and claim they found the animal. From there, they inform the pet owner the animal was injured and needed emergency surgery, and then demand money for the surgery through PayPal. The Central Pa. Humane Society is making sure pet owners know they do not operate this way, this is a scam.
