A Cambria County man is facing charges of animal cruelty after a number of dead and malnourished animals were discovered on his property in Portage Borough. Police say 24-year-old Ethan Owens of Sidman has been accused of abandoning a number of animals, including chickens, and a dog at his Orchard Street property. Authorities were able to rescue the dog and a bearded dragon inside the home, with both animals reportedly being in poor health due to lack of food and water. The animals were discovered in November after Portage Borough police received numerous complaints from neighbors. Owens was arraigned this week on felony aggravated cruelty to animals and other related counts. He is free on unsecured bail.
