Altoona Man Charged in DUI Crash That Killed Two

An Altoona man is facing charges of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, for a crash that killed two people.  Nineteen-year-old Kaleb Strong is facing numerous charges including aggravated assault and involuntary manslaughter, for a crash that occurred in October of last year, on Lincoln Highway in Bedford County.  Killed in the crash were 16-year old Keaghan Smith-Price of Altoona, and 22-year-old Kamren Martin of State College.  According to reports, Strong initially told police that a deer ran out in front of him causing him to lose control, and crash into a rock embankment.  State police reported they could smell alcohol while talking to Strong at the scene of the accident.  Police further reported that alcoholic beverages were found in the car, and around the wreckage.  Blood results later showed Strong’s Blood Alcohol content was double the legal limit.  Strong was arraigned on New Year’s Eve, and he is currently in the Bedford County Prison.  Bail has been set at $150,000.
