PA Lawmakers Call For Higher Minimum Wage

Three Pennsylvania Democrats met in Lancaster on New Year’s Eve to call for the state to more than double the minimum wage.  Area Representative Izzy Smith-Wade-El, along with State Senators Art Haywood and Patty Kim, said that the minimum wage in the commonwealth should be raised from the federal rate of 7.25 to 15-dollars-an-hour.  Smith-Wade-El said the state’s inaction on increasing the minimum wage is “immoral.” Minimum wage workers in 21 states received a raise at the start of 2025.
