A Northhampton County man was arrested last week after he reportedly tried to meet up with, whom he thought was a teenage boy, for sex at an Altoona hotel. Arrested was 67-year-old Richard Newman, who was confronted by another man who had reportedly been posing as a 15-year-old boy on-line. Investigators with the Altoona Police Department, say Newman allegedly sent who he thought was a teen, a number of sexual messages, and expressed an interest in meeting him to engage in sex acts. Last Thursday, police say the man confronted Newman at the Wingate Hotel in downtown Altoona, where Newman allegedly admitted to having sex with a minor before. Newman has been charged with attempted statutory sexual assault and unlawful contact with a minor. He is currently in the Blair County Prison where bail has been set at $1 million.
