A lost phone has led to child porn charges against a Somerset County man. State police say 58-year-old Theodore Popernock of Jenners, allegedly had thousands of child porn images downloaded on his phone. Popernock was investigated back in 2020 after his lost cellphone was found. The person who discovered the phone reported to police that the device did not have a lock code, and they attempted to find the owner by viewing the contents. It was at that time the individual, who found the phone, discovered numerous images of suspected child pornography. State police say the phone contained a folder with over 4600 downloaded images of suspected child porn. Popernock is facing dozens of felony child pornography charges. He was arraigned yesterday, and is free on unsecured bail. He is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
