A former Blair County attorney was arraigned yesterday, after he allegedly took $60,000 to handle a property dispute, and then misappropriated the funds, causing a Bedford County couple to lose their home in a sheriff’s sale. Forty-one year old Michael Cohen was arraigned in Bedford County on a felony count of theft by failure to make required disposition of funds. In the summer of 2023, Cohen was also charged with forgery, tampering with records, and obstruction, for allegedly forging a judge’s name on fabricated child custody orders. Prior to that, he was charged with trying to help another client avoid a PFA violation. Yesterday Cohen was released on $60,000 unsecured bail. His preliminary hearing is set for February 12th in Bedford County Court.
