A second person has been charged in an animal cruelty case after more than 60 cats were found living in deplorable conditions at a home in Bedford County.  Earlier this month, 30 cats were removed from Matthew Calhoun and Amanda Vandergroef’s home in West Providence Township, after the cats were found living in what has been described as a biohazardous home without food or water.  Calhoun, who is 40-years-old, was arrested earlier this month, and yesterday 31-year-old Vandergroef was also arrested.  Calhoun is facing more than 100 charges while Vandergroef is charged with more than 240 counts for aggravated cruelty to animals.  Pennsylvania State Police received a tip from Bedford Children and Youth Services who said the conditions of the home were unfit for Vandergroef’s newborn.  Both Calhoun and Vandergroef are currently in the Bedford County Prison in lieu of bail.
