Hundreds of Philly fans flooded the streets of downtown State College last night resulting in the closure of Beaver Avenue. State College Police ordered the crowd to disperse, prompting the closing of East Beaver Avenue at South Pugh Street, for nearly an hour. The crowd was warned by police that the gathering was an “unlawful assembly” and those who refused to leave could face misdemeanor or summary charges for obstructing public passages and failure to disperse. The crowd, which reportedly consisted of mostly Penn State students, poured into the streets after Philadelphia beat Kansas 40-22 in the Super Bowl.
