A 40-year-old Bedford County man is behind bars following an investigation into allegations he had raped a young girl over a period of 20 years. Police say Charles Oberman is accused of repeatedly molesting a young relative. Police were contacted in November after the victim came forward and told authorities the sexual assaults began when she was around 8 or 9 years old. Oberman was arraigned this week and faces charges including child rape, and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse. He has been placed in the Bedford County Prison. Bail has been set at $300,000. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for February 26th.
