Clearfield County District Attorney Ryan Sayers has announced that he plans to send a letter to Governor Josh Shapiro asking him to reconsider the proposed closing of the Quehanna Boot Camp. The Department of Corrections is considering the closure of several state prisons in the Commonwealth as a cost cutting measure, and the Quehanna Boot Camp is one of them. The state says the boot camp would require over five-million in upgrades, but in his letter, Sayers argues that five-million would be saved each year because the facility prevents re-incarceration rates. In his letter, Sayers reportedly is asking both the Governor, and the DOC to look elsewhere for cost-cutting measures.
