Gunman In PA Hospital Shooting Had Visited The ICU Days Earlier

Pennsylvania authorities say the man who held hospital staff at gunpoint before killing a police officer, had visited that hospital before the shooting.  Police in York County say 49-year-old Diogenes Archangel Ortiz was holding hostages in the ICU Saturday, threatening to kill one in the hallway, when several officers opened fire.  Officer Andrew Duarte and the gunman were killed in the shootout, and five others were wounded.  At a news conference Saturday, the York County D.A. said Ortiz was at the intensive care unit days earlier, and had “targeted” the ICU.  The gunman’s motives are still unknown.  In the meantime, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has ordered flags to fly half-staff.  The order comes after Office Duarte died in the line of duty on Saturday.
