A Clearfield County woman, along with her boyfriend, who is currently incarcerated at the Centre County Prison, have been charged after they allegedly conspired to kill a confidential informant. State police say 45-year-old Amanda Zortman of Grampian and her 63-year-old boyfriend Mark Hackett, allegedly tried to hire a hitman to kill an informant they blame for Hackett’s incarceration. The investigation into the murder-for-hire case, began last fall after state police reportedly received a letter from a fellow inmate alleging that Hackett was offering $10,000 to carry out a hit. Reportedly, Zortman was instructed to pick up the informant, after his release from rehab, at which time she would allegedly pay a hitman in drugs and bail money, to inject the victim with a lethal dose of fentanyl. Zortman has been charged with criminal solicitation, and conspiracy to commit murder, and has been placed in the Centre County Prison where bail has been denied. Hackett remains jailed on prior drug offenses, and is awaiting arraignment on these latest charges.
