Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman is criticizing his fellow Democrat lawmakers for their responses to President Trump’s address to Congress on Tuesday night. In a post on X, Fetterman referred to the behavior of some of his party members as “unhinged petulance”, adding that Democrats are “becoming the metaphorical car alarms that nobody pays attention to.” Many Democrats waved signs in a silent protest of Trump’s policies while Texas Congressman Al Green took a louder approach and was removed from the floor after heckling the president over cuts to Medicaid. Senator Fetterman has also broken step with Democrats by voting to confirm more of Trump’s cabinet picks than any other party member. Last month, Fetterman told TribLive that he is not abandoning his party but he does not “see Republicans as the enemy”.
