The modernization of Pennsylvania’s DUI laws might soon be on the way. State Representative Chris Rabb, who represents the 200th District in Philadelphia, has reintroduced a bill that would protect unimpaired drivers who are legal users of medical cannabis. The idea behind the bill is that traces of marijuana can remain in the body for weeks after consumption, which can lead to a medical cannabis license holder failing a blood test and being charged as a DUI without showing any signs of impairment during a traffic stop. The bill is designed to protect medical cannabis patients, not people who use marijuana recreationally. This is the fourth time Rabb has introduced the legislation.
