One person has reportedly died in a fire that occurred at the Colonial Plaza Apartments at 3709 7th Avenue, across the street from the Knickerbocker Tavern. There are also reports that one person has been taken to the hospital. The three alarm fire caused major damage to the apartment building, and nearly 20 people have been displaced. The fire is reported to have started on the third floor and quickly spread through the attic. Crews were called to the scene around 1:00 this morning. Both the Salvation Army and Red Cross have been called in to assist.
