A Centre County funeral home owner has been charged with mishandling a corpse. Charged by state police in Rockview was 33-year-old Garrett Singer of the Singer-Kader-Neff Funeral Home in Howard. State police were called to the funeral home last December after an individual reported the home’s preparation area “smelled bad.” Police report the witness also allegedly saw a body that was not refrigerated, and was instead decomposing on a table. The funeral home is also facing a lawsuit regarding that body, which was the mother of a woman who had hired the funeral home to have her mother’s remains cremated. For over a month the daughter kept calling the home regarding her mother’s death certificate, and the status of the cremation, but never received any straight answers. Garrett is facing a preliminary hearing on May 7th.
