A Millheim, Centre County man has been arrested following an animal cruelty investigation. Arrested was 36-year-old Nicholas Richart. He is accused of intentionally shooting and killing his German Shepherd, earlier this month. Authorities were called to his home on March 6th, where they discovered the body of the dog, which had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to its right eye. Reportedly Richart admitted to authorities he shot the dog, claiming he did so “because people were after him.” Richart has been charged on one felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals. He is currently in the Centre County Prison where bail has been denied. He is facing a preliminary hearing on April 2nd.
