A petition has been generated as a protest against the Blair County Commissioners proposed option to build a new county prison on acreage located behind the Alto-Reste Cemetery in Altoona. The commissioners have proposed using eminent domain to build the prison, as the owners of that land declined to sell the property. Last week the Blair County Commissioners voted to approve advertisement of an ordinance of eminent domain. As of this morning, over 43 hundred people have signed the petition opposing the move.
