Blair County Commissioners have decided to table an eminent domain vote involving the acquisition of land behind the Alto-Reste Cemetery, in Allegheny Township, to build a new prison. The decision was made after dozens of people showed up to this mornings commissioner’s meeting, many of whom voiced their opposition to the move. Reportedly, Commissioner Dave Kessling recommended putting the vote off till next week to give the commissioners time to weigh the comments and criticisms expressed by the group regarding the proposed site. The proposed seizure involves 77 acres of a 200-acre site that has already been designated for future burial grounds.
