A state audit is showing that delays in reporting from UPMC are costing Pennsylvania taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars. The report is related to payments made to UPMC’s Community HealthChoices program from the state’s Department of Human Services. The document states that the health system did not report when patients became ineligible for the program in an accurate and timely manner, leading to massive overpayments in 2022 alone. The audit shows more than 350-thousand dollars in overpayments for that year, with 120-thousand of that money not recoverable.
