The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau State Legislative Conference Luncheon was held yesterday in Harrisburg, with Governor Josh Shapiro serving as the keynote speaker. During his speech the governor let farmers know he recognized the need to support them. He further prioritized investments in the state’s farmers, and the agriculture industry, an industry he noted that supports over 600,000 jobs, and contributes $132 billion yearly to the state’s economy. Shapiro also discussed his proactive response to the bird flu, and nearly 61-million dollars that are available for a bird flu recovery fund to support poultry farmers. The Democratic governor also told those in attendance that he believed President Trump’s tariffs are, in his words, “dangerous” for both Pennsylvania’s Agriculture sector and overall economy.
