A report out of Harrisburg indicates that Democratic lawmakers tried to get a bill pushed through the house that would ban residents from owning high capacity semi automatic firearms. Republicans stood firm and blocked the proposed legislation by defeating the bill by a 111-87 vote, mostly along party lines. Republican leader Kerry Benninghoff said the proposed bill should have gone through committee first. The bill has been in the judiciary committee for more than a year, and was resurrected this week where republicans say they are not going to regulate or restrict people from owning firearms.
