Here are some photos taken during the 2022 Altoona Memorial Day Parade and Memorial Day Ceremony at Veterans Mall. Pictured are many of the parade’s participants, bands, floats and vehicles, also the Lightner Communications broadcast team in action; and from the ceremony, State Representative Lou Schmidt, Altoona Vice Mayor Jesse Ickes, centenarian Dolly Hollen (a U.S. Army nurse who served during World War II) as she received accolades and presentations, the Altoona Area High School Vocal Ensemble, the raising of a new American flag by the American Legion Riders, and Tim Gatehouse of the Jaffa Highlanders performing his bagpipe rendition of “Amazing Grace.”

Here’s hoping that everyone had a restful and reverent Memorial Day, and took time to remember those members of the military who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.
