News reports indicate Senate Bill 1191, sponsored by Blair County Senator Judy Ward passed on a vote of 30-20 yesterday, and is now headed back to the house for final approval. A similar bill to this one has already passed the house. Supporters on the senate floor stated that bill will keep the playing field level for all females and women. Opponents responded saying that trans girls are girls, and trans women are women. GOP gubernatorial candidate sen. Doug Mastriano, who still votes on the senate floor, stated he is 100% behind the females on this issue. Gov Wolf has vowed to increase his track record by vetoing the bill if it reaches his desk. The bill would require schools to designate sports as either male, female or co-ed.
