In a story by WTAJ, the district says it wants to improve the senior graduation rate to get above the statewide average. One way to do that is to get more involved with students, particularly in grades 6-12. Asst superintendent brad hatch says one way is to get kids to not miss so much time from school. Another is to get kids involved in school activities in the classroom and those in the hybrid model of education. Currently, Altoona graduates somewhere between 84%-90%, with the state average being 88%. Hatch said that one way to help these numbers is to engage with students if they show signs of their grades declining and taking pro active measures to try and stop grades from declining.
