The Altoona Mirror reports that the board approved the budget for the 22-23 school year last night, and with it a tax hike for residents in Blair, Huntingdon and Centre counties. Blair county residents in the Tyrone district will see an average increase of $31 per year. The district says its budget has a deficit of just under $1 million. Also, the district says it could receive $4.2 million in federal monies next year, which is an increase from the $1.87 million it received this year. The board also approved the hiring of chad packer as the new high school principal.
