The National Desk reports that manufacturers of electric vehicles are now pushing the narrative that these vehicles will become cheaper in the future, but for now, the prices remain as high as luxury gas powered vehicles, which puts them out of reach of most working Americans. One of the factors is the high cost of the batteries that will power these vehicles. Officials say that the average life of batteries is 8-10 years. And with recycling efforts and making the batteries with less foreign materials, the price of the vehicles will come down. Also the low number of charging stations is a concern. But the federal government has issued guidelines that would provide charging stations every 50 miles along interstate highways. No word on where if any charging stations would be available on back roads.
