WTAJ reported that someone is calling local residents to tell them that they are in need of monetary donations or that the potential victim has a relative who has been arrested and needs money to post bail. The callers are identifying themselves as either past or current police officers. Altoona police remind you to never give out any personal information to people who call and ask for money or tell you about relatives in need of bail money. APD says it does not call and ask for donations or money for bail. Simply hang up if you get one of these calls.
