In a House vote yesterday, members rejected an amendment to Senate bill 1283 that would have forced Penn State University to reveal the location of the infamous Joe Paterno statue. PSU graduate Rep. Aaron Bernstine attached the amendment to the bill to find out where the school stored the statue, but that amendment was defeated by a vote of 162-38. The statue was removed from in front of Beaver Stadium during the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal. Bernstine said yesterday that hiding the statue does not serve the victims of Sandusky’s horrible crimes. Senate bill 1283 contains funding for Penn State. Bernstine said the school is being two faced by honoring Paterno in the camus library, then vilifying him as being part of the Sandusky scandal at Beaver Stadium.
