The report indicates that D.A. Pete Weeks will have information from the investigation following the fatal shooting of corrections office Rhonda Russell last November at the Blair Central Court building. 55 year old Christopher Aikens is facing 2nd degree murder charges for Russell’s death. He asked to use the restroom at the facility, and came out unrestrained, grabbed Officer Russell’s gun and held her hostage. An Altoona Police officer fired at Aikens, who put Officer Russell in the line of fire, which killed her. Weeks along with state police have been investigating, and will have a report on the use of deadly force in this case. A press conference will be held tomorrow giving details on whether deadly force was justified.
