The Altoona Mirror is reporting that Blair county is expecting some $5.6 million from the announced $42 billion nationwide settlement with major drug companies. The commissioners are asking for your help in determining how the money would be best spent. The only problem is that the money will be spread out over the next 18 years, with the first installment being $229,000. Pa will receive just over $1 billion from the settlement. The county expects to get requests from county offices, programs that work with opioid remediation efforts, and from Blair County Drug and Alcohol.
