A report in the Altoona Mirror states that the emergency call center located on 4th street lost communication capability for about 15 minutes. County EMA director Mark Taylor said that lines went down around 1:40 Tuesday afternoon and were back in full operation around 2:10. Apparently something was wrong with the regional system, as both Bedford and Centre county also were dealing with some issues. Taylor assured the public that the problem was handled swiftly and that it was purely a techinical issue, an not the result of an accident or weather related issues. An alert went out to residents providing three additional phone numbers to call with an emergency.
