Here is a listing of area live music and online music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, October 14 through Thursday, October 20.

A few more local and regional fall festivals take place this weekend, mostly closing out the outdoor festival season for this year. Hollidaysburg’s 16th annual PumpkinFest celebration takes place on Saturday along Allegheny Street, providing a wide variety of arts and crafts vendors, merchant displays, pumpkin-based foods and treats, children’s activities, and two stages of entertainment including live music. See the listing below to find out what music will take place during this year’s festival.

Several more fall festivals take place outside the local area this weekend. The annual three-day Fort Ligonier Days Festival happens in and around the diamond area in downtown Ligonier from Friday through Sunday, featuring a wide variety of arts and crafts vendors, numerous food vendors, a parade on Saturday and live musical entertainment on two stages. The festival commemorates the October 12, 1758 battle of Fort Ligonier, a key battle during the French & Indian War…The 73rd annual Pennsylvania State Flaming Foliage Festival also takes place Friday through Sunday in Renovo, and also features arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, a parade on Saturday, children’s activities and live music…The 48th annual Fulton Fall Folk Festival takes place Friday through Sunday throughout Fulton County, with much of the activities happening in and around McConnellsburg. Arts and crafts vendors, exhibits, flea markets, food and refreshments, antique farm equipment displays, tractor pulls, children’s activities, a Saturday parade and other activities will all be part of this festival…Also in Fulton County, the 8th annual Akersville Fall Festival started on Thursday and continues on Friday and Saturday in Akersville (located just southeast of Breezewood). This small festival features vendors, homemade food, a kids’ tent, raffle, and live folk, country and gospel music on Friday and Saturday. Proceeds from the festival benefit the restoration of Akersville’s historic church and schoolhouse…And Little Buffalo State Park near Newport hosts its annual Apple Festival on Saturday and Sunday, featuring food, musical entertainment, educational programs and demonstrations, apple cider pressing and apple butter, tours of the Shoaff’s Mill grist mill and more.

The ArtsAltoona Center will host its Fall Arts Market on Sunday afternoon starting at 2 p.m. The market will feature various artisans displaying their creations, food and refreshments, and live music.

Music will hit the theatrical stage at Altoona’s Mishler Theatre this weekend, as P&J Productions presents The Who’s “Tommy” with three performances. An area cast of performers will present the story of the “deaf, dumb and blind kid who sure plays a mean pinball,” accompanied by live performances of The Who’s signature music by a pit orchestra of established area musicians. Performances happen both Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m., and a Sunday afternoon matinee beginning at 2 p.m. Tickets for the production can be obtained from the Mishler box office.

And this weekend marks the start of Halloween party season, as a few Halloween-themed live music parties take place around the area. More such events will increase in frequency during the next two weekends leading up to Halloween.
