Television news reports have stated that the race for the 72nd house seat in Harrisburg was in court for defamation. Challenger Renae Billow sued her opponent, incumbent Frank Burns of defamation. The lawsuit centers around one of Burns’ campaign ads that accuses Billow of scamming taxpayers out of money to pay for her mortgage. Billow claims that money was deemed emergency relief. The court ruled that Burns had to take the ad off of his Facebook page, but it will be allowed to remain on television. The ad also claimed that Billow purchased a second property with the money. Billow argued that the ad was defamatory and false. Burns stated that his ad was factually 100% correct. Billow says she and her husband are paying back the money. And she said that no crime was committed.
