A report by WTAJ indicates that the college has applied for and received a federal grant for just under $1 million to get the project off and running. The project will try and come up with a test for lyme disease and other tick borne pathogens. With this program, Juniata College hopes it helps other counties in Pennsylvania who deal with tick borne diseases to be better prepared, and to get people who are bitten by ticks to get help faster and treated properly. College officials say this could be a 3 year endeavor.
