In a story from WJAC, council is going ahead with plans to upgrade new fire dept equipment including a pumper and ladder trucks. The city will use a lease purchase agreement to get the new trucks to try and regularly maintain the city’s fire dept vehicles. City Manager Omar Strohm said that these vehicles are very expensive and costly to maintain, but it is something that needs to be done for the safety of city residents. The lease purchase agreement will go from $2 million to $4 million for the upgrade in equipment. A vote on the issue will take place in December.
