A report by the Altoona Mirror indicates that the city is planning to purchase the lot that held the former Downtowne Drug building along 11th ave and 15th street to build an expansion of the police dept building that stands right next door. The new addition will house evidence and allow the police dept to modernize that storage. The city will pay more than $68,000 for the ground, and says it might cost some $3 million to construct a new building. The ground will be purchased from Pennsy Partners who purchased the lot to put up a multi-use facility but those plans fell through.
